Pamela Monahan, SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) Coordinator and Fiona Humphrey, also with SHIBA, share information about Medicare. They talk about original Medicare, prescription drug coverage, help paying for Medicare, Medigap (Medicare Supplements), Medicare Advantage Plans, and issues with Medicare fraud and abuse.

Our panel of experts discuss home care and placement. Get advice and learn about options.

Listen in to our local experts Sue Doyle, PhD, OTR/L, Home Modifications for the Occupational Therapist and Sam Lewis, MSW, Clark/Cowlitz County Fire talk about Fall Prevention and Home Safety. They educate and offer tips about falls and more.

"Falls Among Older Adults with Dementia: Nearly half (45.5%) of older adults with dementia experience one or more falls annually, compared to about 30.9% of older people without dementia. Additionally, the fall rate for people with Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment is about 1.12 falls per person per year, which is roughly three times higher than the rate for the general older population."

HOPE Dementia Support presents Navigating the Unknown: A Dementia Care Partner Workshop at 10 a.m. Jan. 24 at the City of Vancouver Water Resources Education Center. This workshop is designed for dementia care partners navigating the challenges of caring for a loved one with dementia. Attendees will connect with other care partners, learn tips and strategies for providing care, and gain a better understanding of dementia and its effects.
