The impact of living with and caring for people living with dementia entered Lisa’s awareness in the early 2000s while performing pet therapy visits for hospice patients with her therapy dogs, Gunner and Libby. Dementia became a more personal issue when two aunts and her mother were all diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. After joining a HOPE support group with her sister to learn more about dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, she found a welcoming place to share and learn.  She began volunteering for HOPE in mid-2020 as facilitator coordinator. In her spare time, Lisa trains her two English Setters in various dog sports and continues pet therapy visits at a specialty and rehabilitative care facility.
