Caring for someone living with dementia can be rewarding. At the same time, it can be challenging as communication and abilities change over time. The good news is that small changes in how we communicate and provide support can make a big difference.
That’s why HOPE Dementia Support invites you to join us this Friday, July 31, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a workshop on Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care (PAC). Mike Davis, Community Relations Coordinator at Highgate Senior Living and a Certified PAC Trainer, will lead the session. We’ll meet at The Foundation Resource Center, 505 Omaha Way, Vancouver, WA.
Throughout this hands-on workshop, Mike will share practical tools you can use right away. You’ll also learn how family care partners, professionals, and community members can better understand and support people living with dementia.
Specifically, you’ll learn about:
- The Gems® Brain Change Model and how it helps explain changes in the brain and behavior.
- The Hand-under-Hand® technique, which helps build trust while making everyday tasks easier and more comfortable.
- Simple ways to communicate that can reduce frustration and anxiety.
- Practical tips you can use at home, at work, or in the community.
Whether you care for a family member, work with older adults, volunteer, or simply want to learn more about dementia, you’ll leave with new skills and ideas you can begin using right away.
At HOPE Dementia Support, we believe that understanding dementia helps people care with more confidence and compassion. When we understand what someone is experiencing, we can respond in ways that create more comfort, connection, and success.

Most importantly, we hope you’ll join us this Friday to learn from Mike Davis and discover practical tools that can make everyday life a little easier for both people living with dementia and those who care for them.
